What is a cable lock?
Cable locks are flexible cables that wrap around equipment and an anchor point and lock with a key, combination, or both to prevent theft or unauthorized use. They’re used with items that cannot be secured with a padlock, like portable equipment, tools, 自行车, and computers.

Is chain lock better than cable lock?
A decent chain is better than pretty much any cable lock. Cable locks can be cut with hand tools that fit in your pocket. A decent (but portable) cable needs a long bolt cutter. Possible exception are Litelock Gold thick cable locks, but they weigh similar to a chain.

Is an expensive bike lock worth it?
If you live, or work, in an area where you know bike theft is a common occurrence then it makes sense to look for a lock with a gold or even diamond rating. If you’re locking your bike up inside, or using secure bike storage, you may feel comfortable using a lock with a lower rating.
